Our
original Cage RACS, now
used by veterinarians for almost thirty years were designed to be
lightweight, durable, easy to clean, and of a design that allows
papers and bedding to be changed without disturbing the animal in
the cage. The specially made legs, similar to sled runners
in appearance are of prefabricated 3/8 cold-rolled steel.
These are bent according to the size of cage RAC they will be used
for, and the mesh platform is welded to the top of them. In the
case of RACS used in larger cages, a center support is also welded
to the platform. After welding is complete, the RAC is then coated
with the finest p.v.c plastisol available. This coating is
oven cured, smooth, durable, can be cleaned with any product on
the market, and guaranteed not to chip, cRAC or peel for three
years. Although it happens infrequently, we cannot promise
that some determined critter will not damage the floor with their
teeth. One must keep their eyes peeled for that overly destructive
animal and, especially, never put rabbits on coated flooring.
The finished RAC stands close to four inches tall. A RAC 21.5 x
27.5 weighs 13 lbs. These RACS remain popular for two reasons.
One is their lower cost, and the other is for better circulation
of air when using a cage dryer after bathing.

Our coated aluminum RACS were developed in 1995 in
response to requests for even lighter cage RACS. These RACS
are made from high quality aluminum, dipped in the same high quality
plastisol as our other products. The legs are 1/4 x 1
aluminum bar welded to a similar frame. A 21.5 x 27.5
coated aluminum cage RAC weighs only 8.5 lbs.
The height of these floors is 2 1/4 from the floor to
the top of the mesh. This allows almost two inches additional head
room for those larger dogs. As with our original RACS, the
floors for larger cages have an extra pair of legs in the middle.
They have been more popular at a rate of five to one than our original
coated steel RACS due to their shorter height, lesser weight
and ease of handling.
Both our coated aluminum and coated steel cage RACS are designed
to hold the weight of the animals that will fit in the appropriate
size cage that the RAC is made for.
They are not made to put into runs as resting platforms for oversized
animals or where human weight might be applied . Products for this
type of use can be special ordered .
We carry all standard sizes for Shoreline, Suburban and VSSI cages
as well as for other manufacturers such as Dirck and Snyder, with
most sizes in stock and ready to ship to you by U.P.S. . We can
also custom make similar RACS for those tricky tapered fiberglass
cages or those home- made cages of various sizes.
