Our products have been used all around the United States in facilities that cater to animals, for decades. Many of our products are in service today, with inception dates that are from long ago. Typically, this is far beyond what competitors can offer.
We also pride ourselves on assisting customers in realizing their goals through a strategic understanding of the types of spaces our products work in, and the many ways to leverage the inherent benefits of our products. Our industrial animal run covers are no exception.
Here’s why RACS Run Covers are a top industry solution
We have refined our design over the years, but mostly, the core ideals have remained the same: We build plastisol coated steel products that prioritize durability, protection against the elements and offer easy to maintain, care procedures.
Below we highlight some of the best features of our core product offering, with the specific spotlight on the commercial quality run covers that so many of our clients opt for, because of their important features.
Our run covers are important pieces for whelping areas, or for when you need to rehabilitate an animal, because they prioritize stable footing, and allow fecal matter to drop through the open design, to minimize bacterial concerns. They are also easily maintained and built to hold large quantities of weight to allow employees to treat even large animals easily.
Product specifications
Built from top quality steel or aluminum depending on styles and needs, the core material is prepped and primed to ensure minimal oxidation potential, and maximum adherence of the plastisol coating. Polyvinyl (plastisol) is applied to a thickness of about ⅛” and completes an entire envelope around the core material. The strong adherence makes sure the coating protects the metal from rust and other concerns.
Our Plastisol includes a UV and mold inhibitor, and is applied using industry best in class procedures for maximum longevity and protection.
Materials
Our industrial run covers are available in expanded steel, expanded aluminum or perforated metal. The expanded metal design features a diamond-like pattern and perforated metal variants offer a round hole design.
Expanded metal can increase traction without increased risk for injury, while perforated metal offers the flattest surface possible with pass-through, while also offering traction. The expanded metal materials offer minimal surface area, to enhance fluids passing through, while perforations offer a very comfortable surface for animals.
Installation
We offer standard sizes and customized sizes to fit any specific installation. The standard sizes help build modular, cost controlled environments that benefit from lower cost structure and easier installation.
Custom solutions allow you to improve your operational capabilities through designing an exact piece for your existing workflow. Generally, both styles (custom and standard) can work harmoniously together. Both systems can be used with existing infrastructure as needed.
Benefits of using a RACS Run Cover and Outdoor Kennel Flooring
Waste falls through the open designs of our run covers. This minimizes animal contact with feces and urine and allows for easy maintenance. The coating is easy to maintain and its surface texture helps to avoid waste clinging to the surface.
This helps animals stay clean, dry, and free of infection. The coating also allows for some temperature regulation, with the plastisol never allowing the temperature of the surface to move beyond the ambient temperatures of the environment. Animals are going to be more comfortable and won’t experience extreme temperatures to the touch.
The coating is over the entire surface. That means no sharp edges or metal exposed, and easy to clean, fully encased structures.
Ease of daily use
The design is a set-in-place build, with a simple design that elevates animals above whatever native surface you already have. This can help to level surfaces and provide consistent footing for animals. Thanks to the strong construction this can mean the ability to span areas as needed, too.
Because the comfort of plastisol is consistent, no bedding is needed, though, optional bedding or even specialty heating elements can be utilized for specific circumstances. .
Cleaning and disinfecting
Industry-typical cleaning agents and methodologies are supported. Disinfection can be done with autoclave, as well as chemical and mechanical procedures. If you are using it in your veterinary or animal centric business, it’s very likely you can use it on our products. In fact, our products are built to handle the most extreme ends of the maintenance spectrum for this industry.
A few words about animal safety
RACS flooring is built with animal safety and long-term durability and stability in mind. It’s designed to be cleaned easily, and minimize overall total maintenance, while keeping animals safe from foot injuries and platform instability. There are no sharp edges or exposed steel parts.
Additional notes about Whelping areas
Whelping areas are an important use case for this type of flooring because of the unique build qualities. While it is also great in veterinary clinics and rehabilitation centers, there are very broad use case scenarios for whelping floors like this.
- Made in sizes that are easy to move for cleaning or repositioning to another area
- Custom sizes can provide a wall to wall resting area
- You can build a system that covers the entire floor area for enhanced animal cleanliness
- The floor can be flushed for quick sanitation as needed
- Legs (length) and wall support inclusions can be customized even on modular, standard offerings to work with your facility
- Animals are raised above cold, dirty and uneven surfaces, like concrete
- These flooring options offer great cohesion with chain-link wall separators for high volume facilities
